Humane Society of Catawba County

Adopt. Donate. Volunteer.

A young boy presses his hands to the glass while a dog stands and presses its paws to the other side.

At the Humane Society of Catawba County, we work every day to find homes for animals who don't have one and to care for the pets who need us most. Our adoptions, low-cost veterinary care, community programs, and volunteers all play a part in keeping animals across Catawba County and the surrounding towns healthy, safe, and loved.

Our mission is straightforward: give homeless companion animals a safe place to land and the care they deserve, while leading our region in affordable spay/neuter, humane education, and adoption services. We're an independent nonprofit, which means the donations, grants, and fundraising we receive from neighbors like you are what keep our doors open.

A No-Kill Shelter

As a no-kill shelter, every animal in our care stays with us for as long as it takes to find the right family. We also know that folks in our community sometimes hit hard times, so we're here to help with:

Honesty you can count on. Care they can feel. Every life matters here — and with your support, every animal gets the second chance they deserve.

I adopted my cat Pepper from the Humane Society of Catawba County last spring and could not be happier. The adoption process was clear and simple, and they made sure I had everything I needed before I left. Pepper runs the house now, exactly as it should be.

The facility is clean, the animals are obviously well cared for, and the staff answered every question we had without ever rushing us. We adopted a senior dog named Gus and they were upfront about his health history and needs. That kind of honesty means a lot. Highly recommend.

Great organization doing a lot with limited resources. They helped me get several barn cats spayed and vaccinated at a reduced cost, and the whole process was easy to schedule. If you appreciate what they do for this county, consider donating a few dollars. They earn every bit of it.
